inspiring smells

"Nothing can beat the smell of dew and flowers and the odor that comes out of the earth when the sun goes down."
-Ethel Waters

Jasmine... smells so good... So do a lot of things...

CreosoteCreosote peppers the air with an earthy smell after a good rain.
The roses from my rose garden never fail to inspire a song in my heart.  The lavender I grow takes some coaxing but its a rich deep smell that invigorates while at the same time soothes the soul.  I am a fan of Nag Champa, but my favorite smell has to be that of the creosote tree right after a rain.  The earth just comes alive here in the Arizona desert after a good rain and the smell that lingers in the air reminds me why I've made this beautiful place my home for so many years.
